About

Stories for people who like stories. Weirdness. Abstract. Probably pretentious.

Named for the space in between – everything outside infinity, the ethereal fabric binding it all together – The Superfluous also refers to how experimental, metaphysical, and deconstructionist narratives are too often regarded.

“To assert as truth that which has no meaning is the core mission of humanity.” — The Vision

Relativity of truth, doubt, and potential are all palpable themes running through most of The Superfluous. Truth’s relativity because it’s so simple a concept that most people have a hard time accepting it. Doubt because it can a powerful and inspirational and emotional drive pushing us to wonder and explore and discover. Potential because the universe is infinite and unending, so anything is possible, thus anything can be true. The Superfluous seeks to examine the nature of man, explore the concept of divinity, and expound on emotional control and freedom.

“I try never to understand. It’s called an open mind.” — The Doctor

Impossible narratives designed to experiment and innovate on a platform that encourages discussion and critique by galvanizing insight, urging introspection, and requiring effort — this is the mission of The Superfluous. Because the human soul is just a series of stories, a collection of experiences and opinions and behaviors and instincts that all add up to an individual unique through every conceivable reality across the endless multiverse. Every single person, idea, and memory that has been or will come to be is wholly distinct because no two souls are the same; each of our lives is different, our journeys our own, and our ethos’ defined by star-cross’d coincidence. This is a lie because there are no truths; lies are just an excuse to excuse meaninglessness.
